We have lots of different areas that you can get involved in, so whether you have a couple of hours a week, a day or a year to give, you would be very welcome to consider joining our team.
You may like to help to sort and date check food donations, serve our evening meal, become a mentor or give some administrative support, or perhaps you have a specialist skill you would like to offer to invest in the charity? Whatever it is that takes your fancy we would love to hear from you. Simply complete a Volunteer Application Form and let us know which area(s) you would like to invest your time.

Most wanted volunteer vacancies:
- Food Stock Volunteer – we are looking for individuals interested in supporting our Food Store team by date checking and categorising our donated food stocks
- Warehouse Volunteer – we are looking for individuals who feel they could help us to clean, function test and mend donated furniture items in our warehouse for a couple of hours each week
Role: Van Driver Technician
Hours: Part-time, 14 hours a week
Open Hands Trust are looking to appoint a passionate, organised and self-motivated individual to work alongside the charity’s Furniture Project Manager in delivering the charity’s furniture projects. The role comprises primarily of driving a van, delivering and collecting charitable donations (predominantly furniture items), organising the charity’s furniture warehouse, catalogue and stock, delivering an excellent standard of customer service and working alongside and managing volunteers.
This role would be suited to a physically fit, confident and well-organized individual who has experience of driving long wheel-base vans. Reporting to the Furniture Project Manager this role will encompass aspects of route planning, stock preparation and customer service.
The role will need an individual who has a desire to help to alleviate poverty and destitution in people’s lives, expresses patience and empathy and is prepared to be flexible and go the extra mile. You will need to be a team player, willing to learn and develop new skills and able to deliver your work in a positive and professional manner. Working in the charity sector you will need to support and be committed to the charity’s ethos.
